Windmills in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, Vaucluse (84)

This restored (but unworking) windmill at Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is the only survivor out of four which once stood here.

Another tower remains as part of a house conversion.

Joseph Talon in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, Vaucluse (84)

'À JOSEPH TALON
Lou rabassié
Père de la
Trufficulture'

Joseph Talon (1793-1873), the 'father of trufficulture', thought of planting acorns from 'truffle oaks', and a decade later there was an important harvest of black truffles from young oaks. That's the kind of thinking that makes Joseph Talon a very important name in connoisseurs of mushrooms.

Albert Trouchet in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, Vaucluse (84)

'RUE
ALBERT TROUCHET
POÈTE PROVENÇAL
NÉ ET MORT À SAINT SATURNIN
1883 – 1963'

The sign above is perhaps slightly misleading in that Albert Trouchet didn't only write in Provençal but also conventional French. His works include La Flute du roseau (1931), La chèvre sur le mur (1936), the play La Poulido masco, coumèdi en un ate (1964), Florilège (1995), and the undated Sac de nielle, poésies provençales avec traduction française en regard.
