Emil Cioran published one of his key works, De l'inconvénient d'être né – literally 'On the Inconvenience of Being Born' – obviously a book about the absurdity of the human condition, in 1973. He never killed himself, and died of Alzheimer's. His partner Simone Boué died two years later.
