Hippolyte Taine in Vouziers, Ardennes (08)


The philosopher and historian Hippolyte Taine (1828-93) is another son of Vouziers, Ardennes, who has been honoured with a monument in his native town. He was sent to Paris (where he died) at the age of thirteen on the death of his rather prosperous father, and his writings are many and diverse.

Paul Drouot in Vouziers, Ardennes (08)


Paul Drouot (1886-1915) was a poet born in Vouziers, Ardennes, who died during the First World War in Aix-Noulette, Pas-de-Calais. The town honoured its son with this monument, which includes a few words of his writings at the rear.
