Laura Lafargue (1845–1911) was born Laura Marx, the daughter of Karl Marx. In 1868 she married the militant socialist Paul Lafargue (1842–1911), and the couple translated The Communist Party Manifesto into French. Paul's most famous written work is Le Droit à la paresse (The Right to Be Lazy), which was a reply to the work ethic promulgated by priests, economists, etc. In 1895 Laura inherited part of Engels's fortune, and she and her husband lived in Draveil in Essonne until they killed themselves in 1911 before old age could devour them.
