I've just read Jacques Godbout's Salut Galarneau!, which is a very interesting French Canadian work translated as Hail Galarneau! in English. This is a powerful short novel concerning much more than it would at first appear (particularly historically, culturally and linguistically), so the best thing for me to do is to leave the link below to an MA dissertation that is a study of Godbout's first three novels: L'Aquarium (1962), Le Couteau sur la table (1965), and Salut Galarneau! (1967).
