JAGOT

Paul-Clément Jagot was an occultist and a very prolific writer of works on personal development, hygiene, esotericism, applied psychology, hypnotism, parapsychology, etc. His Wikipédia entry calls him one of the precursors of New Age thinking, but gives no reference to back this up.
Born into a family of modest means, Jagot was an autodidact with a prodigious memory and of great erudition.
