Cimetière du Montparnasse revisited #4: Adolphe Joanne

Adolphe Joanne (1813–81) gave up the legal profession for literature. He worked for a number of papers and, as an Anglophile with a great knowledge of English literature, contributed to the Revue Brittannique for twelve years. He was also a keen geographer and his 'Guides Joanne' became the 'Guides bleues'.
