Cimetière du Père-Lachaise (continued): #34: Michel Adanson

The naturalist Michel Adanson (1727–1806), born in Aix-en-Provence of Scottish ancestry, is most remembered for exploring areas that at the time were little known in his field, notably Senegal. Many of his botanical findings are held in the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. His Histoire naturelle du Sénégal (1757) also gives an account of his journey to Senegal.
