Albert Adès was a French-speaking Egyptian who met Albert Josipovici in 1913. He co-wrote the first two novels (concerning Egyptian life) mentioned above with Josipovici and Le Livre de Goha le simple was nominated for the Goncourt in 1919, but lost to Proust's À l’ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs. The novel was adapted into a film entitled Goha directed by Jacques Baratier in 1959 starring Omar Sharif and Claudia Cardinale.
