Cecil Day Lewis in Stinsford, Dorset

'CECIL
DAY LEWIS
1904–1972

Poet Laureate

Shall I be gone long?
For ever and a day.
To whom there belong?
Ask the stone to say.
Ask my song.'

Cecil Day Lewis was a great admirer of Thomas Hardy and his wish to be buried as close as possible to him was granted.
