The Moeraki Boulders, South Island, New Zealand

The Moeraki Boulders are a number of very large, almost round rocks on the east coast of South Island between Moeraki and Hampden. According to Wikipedia, they vary in diameter between 0.5 and 2.2 metres, and are made of 'mud, fine silt and clay, cemented by calcite'.

They are perhaps the main point of interest over the 112 kilometre stretch between Oamaru and Dunedin, and are about half a mile from state highway 1.
